Obtaining a major record deal/publishing deal?

Obtaining a record deal (if you even want one these days) or a nice publishing deal is not an easy thing to do. It’s almost trying to get yourself into an Ivy League school or a fortune 500 company that requires 5-7 years of experience. Don’t you hate it when you see a job posting that requires a Masters degree/certifications/and 5-7 years of experience? If you come straight out of school, how do you get a job with those sort of requirements when opportunities are so limited. It’s the same concept in music. To obtain a major deal or publishing deal, you need to somehow be placing your music into big films, shows, commercials, artists, and etc to show that you are making a living in music and doing well at it.
You have to jump through hoops to get a placement these days. It’s no wonder why the music industry is struggling. If you’re not part of that network, it’s 10x harder to get inside to place your music no matter how good it is! Nothing will change regarding that part of the industry because music is saturated by untalented people. As the result, clients want to go to one source and rely on that source to provide great music. So know what you’re getting into if you are looking to get into this business.
